Excellent workout this morning. I love this workout because it's a lot easier than most of the Insanity workouts, but it feels therapeutic and still makes me sweat.

I'm making this short. Forgot to write the blog this morning and the blog came up in conversation tonight which reminded me. Week 8 is over. One more week! It's coming soon. Dig deep!

Day: 54, Calories: 0, Insanity Max Interval Circuit

WorkoutInsanity Max Interval Circuit
Status: Completed
Wrapped up max circuit after work, and it felt incredible! The warmup was shakey..,,.the warmup is always shakey....but after I got warmed up I felt pretty good. It was hard and I definitely had to take some breaks, but by the end I had done more than I'd ever done before on this workout and I was covered in sweat. One big note, on the pushup series in the beginning (4 ski abs, 4 pushup jacks, 4 in and outs, 4 oblique pushups, repeat) I actually did the whole thing on the first series. No breaks at all. Usually I take one or two breaks, and rounds 2 and 3 I had to do that, but round 1 I kept strong and did it. I can't describe how huge that is. Next week I'm going to try to hold on for round 2 too!

One more day in Week 8, and then the final week begins! Insanity is flying by. Dig deep!

WorkoutP90X Back & Biceps
Status: Completed
I got up this morning feeling pretty tired. My body has been a wreck this week, and I don't know why. Even yesterday with the recovery day, all day and night I felt like my joints hated me. My legs feel like I ran 35 miles at full sprint. I'm not sure why I'm so sore....

That said, I woke up, had a pre workout drink and half a pot of coffee, and finally hit play on back and biceps. I definitely felt exhausted, and most of my numbers dropped a little. I went down to 20 lbs for most of the biceps; I usually use 30's. My pullups weren't at strong as last week, both in form and numbers.

Despite all of that, my arms and back feel like they got a workout. As long as I push myself, I guess I still get a good workout even if the weights go down. I feel like I worked hard, and for that I'm calling this workout a victory.

Gonna go get ready for work, and hopefully tonight I'll have all of my energy back and ready for my Insanity workout. I assume you'll know how it went before I do. Bring it!

Day: 53, Calories: 0, Insanity Max Recovery

Log EntryDaily Note:
Quick note, I've decided to stop taking the recovery drink after workouts. I'm doing just protein powder and water, at least for a few weeks. I feel like the recovery drink has too many carbs in it, and now that I think about it my weightless started to slow when I got on it months ago. I'm curious if just protein helps me out. I'll keep you posted.

Another Mac Recovery is in the books. I was tired this morning, but the recovery workout was exactly what I needed. I didn't quite keep up with the group, but I did as much as I could and felt plenty stretched and rested by the time it was over. I'm still not sure how I feel about this workout....it tries to be cardio, resistance and yoga and never quite achieves any of those. It did make me think that I really miss doing yoga. I'm definitely looking forward to 2 or 3 yoga sessions during my recovery week.

I can't believe this time next week I do my last Max Recovery. Insanity is going by really fast. Week 8 continues, and it's almost time for The Asylum. Dig deep!

Day: 52, Calories: 0, Insanity Max Cardio Conditioning

WorkoutInsanity Max Cardio Conditioning
Status: Completed
Pain! That's all I can say to describe today. I don't know why, but my quads were absolutely destroyed this morning, and this workout is entirely quads. I felt like I was moving in slow motion all morning. Needless to say, this was not my strongest workout. I'm impressed that I finished. But I did, kind of, so that's good.

WorkoutInsanity Cardio Abs
Status: Completed
I got to cardio abs, and even though this one doesn't use my quads as much my body was already beat up. I had to struggle through this workout too. Last week I was so much stronger on these two workouts. I think I'm really starting to feel worked from month 2.

I'm glad tomorrow is max recovery. I feel like my body needs it.

Day: 50, Calories: 0, Insanity Max Interval Circuit

Log EntryDaily Note:
Quick note, I spent the weekend in San Diego with my girlfriend and some friends. It was an awesome weekend, and I have to say I love San Diego! We saw a baseball game, we rode a roller coaster on the beach, we walked all over....it was great. Just wanted to document the great trip.

WorkoutInsanity Max Interval Circuit
Status: Completed
San Diego vacation was amazing, but I woke up in the hotel this morning and knew I had to hit play. Today is a fit test, max interval circuit and, with my added resistance workouts chest shoulders and tri's from p90x. I wasn't sure how much energy I'd have after the drive home, so I did this workout first.

Overall it was a good workout. I've been walking a lot the last two days, around the beach and gaslamp district, so my knees and legs were feeling a little rough. I hung in there though, and had a really great workout. My jumps were a little lower than normal, but I kept a really great pace. By the end I was completely soaked and it felt great to start my day.

I'm starting to get the hang of the max workouts. By no means are they easier, but I can definitely push myself a lot further than ever before. Dig deep!

After this workout we got some breakfast, and the drove home.....

WorkoutP90X Chest, Shoulders & Tris

Got home around 4:30, and hit the gym at 6:15. I knew I was tired, but getting this resistance workout in was pretty important. I had to really dig deep, but I pushed weights and did solid pushups overall. I added the pushup resistance thing too, which made my chest really work.

Good workout, but I am exhausted now. Time for food and the bed. Bring it!

Status: Not Complete
I did not have the time to do this workout before checkout, and I didn't want to do it after the drive because I want to be fresh for the fit test. I'll add it in first thing in the morning. Wish me luck!

Day: 48, Calories: 0, Insanity Core Cardio & Balance

WorkoutInsanity Core Cardio & Balance
Status: Completed
Well, there good news and bad news. The bad news is that Max Interval Sports Training, the optional workout today, didn't work either. That's what I get for buying Insanity on eBay. The good news is that I felt incredible this morning and had an outstanding core cardio and balance workout. I know it's not that hard of a workout anyways, but my body felt great and I pushed really hard. My abs and arms were pretty tight from yesterday's workouts, but definitely a good tight. And I had a lot of energy and just felt excellent from start to finish.

I wish I'd done the sports training routine, but today was fun.

WorkoutOther (Use Note Field)
Status: Completed
Since I didn't have sports training, I wanted an intense ending. I threw in Overtime from The Asylum. This DVD is 15 minutes and is meant to give you an extra burn on any insanity or asylum workout. It was difficult to say the least. I liked it, but my body was aching by the end. I'm also terrible at jumping rope, and just did the jump rope without the rope. The pullups at the end were tricky since i did pullups yesterday. In general this really took today's workout to the level I wanted, and considering my extra energy I'm glad I did it.

Overall I dug this workout. It was hard, but at 15 minutes it's definitely easy to throw in when I have the energy. Week 7 is done. I'm heading to San Diego for the weekend to relax. I've earned it. See you on Sunday! Dig deep!

Day: 47, Calories: 0, Insanity Max Cardio Conditioning

WorkoutInsanity Max Cardio Conditioning
Status: Completed
After work I came home, hit play and finally got started around 6:30. The warmup was hard, but not tired hard as much as sore calves hard. I pushed, but had to take a few breaks. After the stretch though I felt incredible and had an amazing cardio workout! There were definitely a few breaks, and every once in a while I'd really push it and had to slow down after a few that, but overall this was an amazing workout. It was great!

WorkoutInsanity Cardio Abs
Status: Completed
I wanted to do Insane Abs, but for some reason it wouldn't work in my DVD player. Fortunately I did cardio abs, which was an option. I haven't done this in a few weeks, and I had an outstanding ab workout. By far my best cardio abs.

Quick note, my roommate Mark decided to join me for this workout. Just cardio abs. He looked pretty beat up at the end. I asked what he thought, and he admitted that if I wasn't there he'd have turned it off after five minutes. The words "intense" and "stupid" were used. Considering I made it this far in the program and had a really good workout today, that made me feel like I've really come a long way. Mark's in pretty good shape, so ya, go me.

That's all I've got. Good workout. One more day this week. Dig deep!

WorkoutP90X Back & Biceps
Status: Completed
It's morning, and I did back and biceps today. I know last week I did v sculpt, but for some reason this was more up my alley today. I rocked out some great, slow, heavy reps on the biceps. They're feeling pretty good right now. And pullups wise, I did only pullups (no total gym) and really tried to bring it. I only got 4-8 reps on each one, but in total I did about 35 pullups in a 50 minute period. Considering a year ago I couldn't do 1 pullup, I'm pretty happy with that.

Two more workouts tonight, and I finally get to try Insane Abs. You'll know how I did before I do since that post will be above this. Bring it!

Day: 46, Calories: 0, Insanity Max Recovery

Log EntryDaily Note:
Quick note, Grandma called me fat last night. Not in so many words.....she said it in her oh so tactful way.....but the message was loud and clear. After debating running her down with my car all night, I realized she's right. I'm definitely losing weight, but my stomach is there and it noticeably stands out. I eat a lot healthier than I did before p90x started in September, but I think I need to figure out a solution. I'm packing on muscle and I love it, but the belly needs to go away. I've worked my ass off since starting this whole thing, but it's not enough. I'm debating a few options for what that next step is, and I'll keep you posted. Working out is going to stay strong, but I need to take the diet to the next level.

WorkoutInsanity Max Recovery
Status: Completed
Max Recovery is complete. I'm not sure why, but I have trouble getting into this workout. It's like it's trying to be yoga, but never really gets all the way there. The stretching doesn't feel as deep as I feel like I need, and the speed of the whole thing feels too fast to give me any benefit. There's some slow resistance stuff, but not enough to get me feeling like I am working any muscles. If anything I can say I feel looser, but definitely not stretched out or rejuvenated. My left leg hurts from this week's workouts, and after the recovery I feel like it's just as rough as when I started.

I will say I enjoy the ab work at the end. The hammer, which isn't nearly as hard as the name sounds, works the front of the stomach very nice. I dig it.

Overall good workout for what it was. I don't fully understand this workout, but any day I don't have to do the Insanity warmup is a good day. Dig deep!

Good workout this morning. Again the warmup kicked my ass, but I got moving pretty well during the first circuit. This workout is a lot of fun, but I'm still a ways away from being able to do the whole thing without breaks.

I'm writing this later in the day because I forgot to post earlier. Hence, it's short. Dig deep!

Day: 44, Calories: 0, Insanity Max Interval Circuit

WorkoutInsanity Max Interval Circuit
Status: Completed
Another round of Max Interval Circuit is complete. My whole body was exhausted when I got up this morning, I imagine from yesterday's two workouts. My knees and quads were especially killing me. When I got into the warmup, I thought my legs were going to fall off. I pushed and took a lot of breaks, but by the end of the warmup I felt like I hadn't done much yet except walk around talking about how tired I was. And my stomach randomly started growling. I hit pause before the stretch, threw some protein powder into my water bottle and kept going.

The protein powder helped a little. My stomach felt better. The first two circuit series (so six circuits) I felt like I was struggling. I had some randomly good 45 second periods, and those were cool. Mostly that whole block felt how the warmup should have felt. The last three circuits I actually was feeling pretty great and at that point I did a lot better. It felt good and I am covered in sweat now.

I wish the energy I had for the final series was there the whole time. At least I got some good exercise in overall. Week 7 continues. Dig deep!

I got workout number 2 done around 6. It's 11:30 now because I forgot to write an entry. It was a good workout, but noticeably tired. I'm still tired, but wanted to get the blog post in since I forgot. Dig deep!

WorkoutP90X Chest, Shoulders & Tris
Status: Completed
The first workout of the day is done. Chest shoulders and triceps is a good workout, though honestly I much prefer doing chest and back instead. Too bad I've gotta switch up the workouts every few weeks. I've decided with the max workouts I just don't have the energy to do a supreme 90 workout on top of this one. Instead, I'm trying to make everything in here harder. I wore the weight vest today, which made all of the pushups and pike presses harder. My chest feels completely destroyed. I also used the tower 200 and did some different tricep work instead of the body weight stuff. I upped the weight and lowered the reps, and my triceps feel freakin' destroyed. It's awesome.

Time for breakfast with the folks, and tonight I hit up max cardio. Bring it!

Day: 41, Calories: 0, Insanity Max Interval Plyo

WorkoutInsanity Max Interval Plyo
Status: Completed
It was my second workout for the day, but I finally hit play around 7pm. Today ended up being longer than I thought, and I ended up eating a big lunch, so I took a nap as soon as I got home. I woke myself up, had a pre workout drink and started to feel pretty good.

Overall a good workout, effort wise. As for energy, I crapped out by the second circuit and felt more like I was flailing than choosing to move. It was pretty rough. But aside from some breaks, I never stopped and was completely soaked by the end of the workout. In fact, I think this was the most I've sweat in an Insanity workout. That's saying a lot too.

The whole working out again today thing will make more sense in a second. The next entry clarifies. Yada yada yada. I'm going to sleep on this comfy couch now. Week 6 is done. Dig deep!

Yup, this blog is completely out of order. Yesterday I had kind of a bomb dropped on me (us) at work, and long story short working out last night just wasn't going to happen. Don't worry, work's cool, I just need to do some serious thinking in the next few months. But working out related, I at least had done the back and biceps workout yesterday morning, so I'd worked out.

This morning I woke up at the usual time and did the max interval circuit that I was supposed to do last night. Between allergies and a rough night last night, I thought for sure today was going to be a terrible workout. As it turned out, today went incredibly well! I had a lot of energy, and pushed through really well. The warmup was a little tricky, but the circuits went awesome. My jumps were all really high, and the pushups were all pretty legit. I took a few rests throughout, but I was impressed with how quickly I recovered and could get right back into it.

This is actually a really fun workout. I missed that last Sunday when I was struggling to stay alive throughout the workout, but today I noticed it. The pushups are all funky and fun, and the punching jumping stuff is awesome too. There's a good pace, and overall it just feels like you're playing sports more than working out. I dig it. The hour for this workout goes by really fast, or at least did today. Hopefully I can keep this enjoyment up for three more weeks.

One more workout scheduled for tonight after work. Hopefully this one is as good as the one I just did. That would end the week on a really fantastic note, and make today a phenomenal workout day. You'll know before I do since you'll be reading these out of order, but still wish me luck. Dig deep!

I finally popped in the v-sculpt DVD. It's an interesting workout. Tony and Mason are pulling exercises out of a hat, so the routine is all random. You do everything twice, which with the random felt weird. Variety of life, right? Nothing really new in this workout, but a good mix of bicep and back exercises. I did all of the pullups on the bar today, except for the very last set which I did on the total gym. I like that I can legitimately do pullups now, and my left arm/chest do not hurt at all! Finally, I can do pullups. I'm looking forward to seeing my numbers go up over the next few weeks.

I don't know if I'll do v sculpt or a different back and biceps DVD. Doing it in the morning, I don't have time to stack workouts anymore. I was originally doing the same workout for a few weeks to see how I improve, but I'm seeing now that variety may be the way to go. I have a week to decide so I'll keep you posted.

You'll read these out of order, but I still have an Insanity workout to do tonight. And it's a busy day at work. I am going to pass the f out by 7:30 tonight, I can feel it. Wish me luck! Bring it!

Day: 38, Calories: 0, Insanity Max Cardio Conditioning

WorkoutInsanity Max Cardio Conditioning
Status: Completed
I woke up this morning, looked at the Insanity calendar and literally shuttered when I saw Max Cardio Conditioning was on the agenda. That name just sounds hard. As I found out a little while later, I was right. This was the most difficult Insanity workout so far. I had a feeling it would be a lot like Pure Cardio, and it really is. Just one long workout, minute long exercises and no breaks. Generally, the exercises themselves were not as hard as Pure Cardio, but there's 15 extra minutes attached to this workout. It just keeps going and going, and about halfway through I burnt myself out. I thought I could keep up and tried my absolute best, but after the midway point I was barely able to do ten reps of an exercise, and I had a lot of breaks. The pushup jacks really destroyed me, but there's so many jumps that my legs were beat up pretty early too.

Great workout this morning, but I definitely have a long way to go on this workout. I can't even imagine doing Insane Abs after this thing, which is what happens a week from Thursday (I looked ahead). Let's see how I do.

Day: 37, Calories: 0, Insanity Max Interval Plyo

WorkoutInsanity Max Interval Plyo
Status: Completed
Max plyo is done, and I am beat! This workout is definitely harder than the regular plyo cardio circuit, and honestly if I was going to take a complete break today I could have done plyo x from p90x. This thing is nuts! Lots of jumps, and there's even a few plyo pushups. Freakin ridiculous! The setup is the same as yesterday, with 45 second exercises in the circuits.

One thing I didn't like was that you only do the last circuit once. I think I saved energy in the second series because I wanted to make it to the end. When we only did one series at the end, I felt like I had a little more to give. Next time I do this workout (Friday) I'll be sure to remember that there's only two full series and really dig deep.

Quick note, I'm really sore today from yesterday's workouts. My upper back hurts, and I don't know if it's from the resistance workout or the max workout. I'm thinking the latter since I didn't do back yesterday, but who knows. My calves are completely dead today, which didn't help much with today's workout. That I completely blame on the Max workout. Not a bad sore. Just very tired from a good workout sore.

Month 2 is off to a solid start. Week 6 continues. Dig deep!

Day: 36, Calories: 0, Insanity Fit Test

Log EntryDaily Note:
Quick note, the sequel to Insanity, the Asylum, just came out and I ordered it. It's a 30 day program for Insanity graduates. 5 new discs. It looks awesome. I'm going to do a little thinking, but I might not do Rushfit right after Insanity, and instead go right into Asylum after some sort of recovery week. Then it would just be one 90 day long program, and I'll do Rushfit after. I don't know, because I was really looking forward to Rushfit, but we'll see. If I did this I'd probably also do the month 3 resistance workout schedule from P90X. Right now it sounds like a good idea, but more thought will be needed. I'll keep you posted.

Great fit test, and it felt good to get back into the swing of things with Insanity. I pushed really hard, and the first four exercises all of my numbers went up a lot! Like 10 more on everything. Unfortunately, pushing that hard got me a little tired, and the second half my numbers either stayed the same or went down a few. I felt like I got a solid workout, so I'm totally cool with that. It was a great workout, and it got me warmed up for the p90x workout I did after.

WorkoutP90X Chest, Shoulders & Tris

After the fit test I hopped into a solid chest shoulders and triceps workout. I haven't done this workout in almost 2 months at this point, and I was happy to see that my numbers all went up. My slow mo pushups were very strong, and overall I feel like I got a great workout.

I didn't have the energy to throw in a supreme 90 workout, but maybe next week. I'm going to take a long break today, get some homework done, and then I have my first max workout tonight. Wish me luck! Bring it!

WorkoutInsanity Max Interval Circuit

Wow. So that's a max workout....

...I miss the regular workouts. That was absolutely ridiculous. I am so tired right now and my shirt is dripping with sweat. The warmup was harder (there were pushups in the warmup!), but I was actually really proud with how well I kept up with it. The circuits themselves are now 4 sets of 45 seconds instead of 30 seconds, and there were 3 total circuit sets instead of 2. The first series I kept up pretty well, but by the second I was feeling pretty drained. I pushed and there's no doubt that I got a great workout, but by the end I was crawling on the floor desperately trying to keep up. The floor switch kicks are crazy hard! And some of the individual sets are complex moves, like 4 variations on pushups for 45 seconds. Those were crazy too.

So we're into month 2. It's going to be tough, but I will say that this is how I felt after Day 1, so I have high hopes that I can get a lot stronger at these workouts over the next four weeks.

Day: 34, Insanity Core Cardio & Balance

WorkoutInsanity Core Cardio & Balance

The final core cardio and balance is done. The program calls for it a few more times in month 2, but they also gave me max interval sports training to sub in on those days, so this probably is it for a while for this workout. It's been a good recovery week. I got tired in the middle, but overall the week kept my heart rate up without killing my muscles. I still feel a little beat up, but I'm ready to go for month 2 on Sunday. Also it's back to my doubles schedule that day too. I'm really not planning on doing anything but working out on Sunday. Wish me luck.

Day: 33, Insanity Core Cardio & Balance

WorkoutInsanity Core Cardio & Balance
Status: Completed
Another core cardio and balance is completed. The difference today is that today I had a fantastic workout! I worked late last night, which means I go into work late today. That means I got to sleep in (until 7:30) and that made a HUGE difference! I had a lot more energy, and took significantly fewer breaks during the cardio section. I really pushed it too, and was pretty soaked by the time the ab work came in. The ab stuff is my favorite part of this workout, and I had a lot more focus today.

The sleep really changes things. I like getting my workout done before I start my day so I can do homework or see my girlfriend after work, but I may need to throw in one or two night workouts again. The additional sleep in the week will really help me out, and I'll get a lot better workouts overall. Especially with the max workouts starting next week, I really want to bring it as hard as possible. I'll keep you posted.

Quick note, I really like this workout. It's a good whole body thing, I like the random punches in it, and the cardio gets me going. Plus it's definitely a recovery workout; I just feel better after doing it. After insanity I'm thinking about doing one week of the P90X recovery week before starting Rushfit. My body will be hurting after 4 more weeks of Insanity, and I want to start Rushfit strong. Like I said a few months ago, I think I've outgrown kenpo x, so I may do this workout in that week instead. I know I'm a few weeks from that mattering, but I wanted to throw it on the blog so I don't forget.

WorkoutInsanity Core Cardio & Balance

Core cardio and balance is done. I like this workout. It's a lot of fun, works a lot of different areas and isn't nearly as intense as the other insanity stuff. That's awesome, especially because I am tired as hell this morning and was having trouble getting energy.

Big note for the day, today is Day 30. This is actually a 63 day program, not 60 as advertised, but I'm still calling today the half way point since I'm used to taking pictures every 30 days. I see a lot more definition in my upper body, and my stomach feels a lot tighter than 30 days ago. So far so good.

I wonder where I'll be in another 30 (33) days. Dig Deep!

Day: 29, Insanity Core Cardio & Balance

WorkoutInsanity Core Cardio & Balance
Status: Completed
The recovery week has arrived! My body has been working hard for the last four weeks, and I don't think I could have worked as hard today on a normal insanity workout. I definitely don't feel like I could have done a double workout today with P90X.

Today and every day this week is core cardio and balance. I didn't know what to expect coming in to this workout, but it was actually pretty awesome. A decent amount of cardio work without getting me completely destroyed like a normal workout, and the ab stuff is pretty fun too. Good workout.

I'm a little concerned that I do this DVD every day this week. That feels like a lot to do in a row, and I don't want to get burnt out with it. However, it's only a week, and I really like that shaun t actually says in this workout "welcome to your recovery week" and "you've been working hard the last four weeks." Clearly this workout is here for a specific reason, so I'm trusting the program. Week 5 starts off strong! Dig Deep!

Ok, this time I'm very sure that this is my last plyo cardio circuit. Month 1 is completed and I so need this recovery week! My body is really feeling the workouts, and today I had so much trouble keeping up with the group. I pushed though, and I got a great workout, despite barely doing half of what they did on the DVD.
