Day: 57, P90X Chest and Back

Today is Sunday and Halloween, so last night was a really (fun) rough night. There were drinks and candy and drinks and Sonic. And more Sonic for breakfast, which yes, I ate. Today was really rough, but I still forced myself to push play. Now that my workout is over, I actually feel a lot better, but today was not a strong P90X Day.

That doesn't matter though. Today is Day 1 of Week 9, and Phase 3! Day 60 is just around the corner, and I'm starting Shakeology lunches tomorrow! It's time to finish strong!

Holy crap, I don't know if it's from last night (it probably is) or just because I haven't done this workout in a month, but I couldn't even keep up with my old numbers, let alone Tony and the crew. Don't get me wrong, I finished, but my numbers were a lot closer to Week 1 than Week 4. Looks like i have some work ahead of me as I enter the third and final phase.

Side note, I've definitely pulled something in my left arm that hasn't fixed over the recovery week. I couldn't do any pullups on the bar and had to use the Total Gym for all of my pullups. A friend of mine says it'll just get stronger over time, but we'll see where I'm at during my second round of P90X.

I think warming up with Chest and Back helped, but this was still a rough Ab Ripper. No where near where I was two weeks ago, but still a ton better than I thought after today's other workout.

Maybe not the best way to start Phase 3, but Week 9 has begun and I'm ready to kick this into gear! Bring it!

Wow, my muscles were tight today, but I still got in a great yoga workout. I'm still rough on the half moon stuff, but the rest was pretty strong and I felt great the whole time!

Today's Nevada Day, so no work. I got to rest, relax and then had a great Yoga X day! Great way to finish up Phase 2, and week 9 begins on Sunday! Happy Nevada Day everyone! Namaste!

Good workout today, but work destroyed me this week and I felt it by the time I got home to do core tonight. I still powered through. Not as strong as Monday, but still WAY stronger than the last recovery week.

Tomorrow is a holiday so no work, and it's Yoga day. That means I get to sleep in, be rested and do yoga! Sounds outstanding. I always have a better workout when I'm well rested, especially yoga! One more day in the second recovery week. Bring it!

I was really tight for some reason today, so I'm really glad Stretch X was today. I never actually break a sweat during this one, but I do feel pretty great afterwards.

Muscles are nice and loose and I'm ready for the day.

The Secret Fast-Food Diet

I found this excellent article about dieting and eating fast food. Since so much of my life is on the go, and I eat a lot of fast food (definitely not as much since starting P90X) I figured it would help me out in the future.

I decided to order Shakeology yesterday. It should be here in a few days.

On Day 30, when I last measured, I was down 10 lbs. I'm expecting about the same or a little less on Day 60. I'm glad I'm losing and I'm planning on doing P90X twice right in a row, followed by Insanity, but I'm just not seeing the results I want fast enough. My upper body is a lot stronger, but the layer of pudge is still sitting on top. Let's see how replacing one meal per day with a shakeology changes things. Wish me luck....it should be here in time for Phase 3.

Great Kenpo X workout today. Because it's recovery week, Kenpo had to be done in the morning again, but somehow I found a lot more energy than I had on Friday. Everything felt strong, and I feel like my strikes have a lot of power behind them.

Wow, I've gotten a ton stronger on core! I used much heavier weights than 4 weeks ago, and holy crap I did the plank to chattaranga hold stuff at the end really well! I couldn't believe that!

Ok, I officially love Yoga X. Today's the first day of the second recovery week, so I get to do yoga on Sunday afternoon instead of Wednesday before work. Feeling extra rested today, I was so ready for yoga and I rocked it! I just get stronger and stronger every time I do this, and it's awesome watching these huge improvements over such a short period of time. I can hold poses so much stronger, I'm way more flexible, and I do every one of the pushups! The pushups feel amazing too! They feel more like a great stretch than a resistance workout.

Great workout and a great way to start Week 8. Namaste.

Day: 47, P90X Legs & Back

Strong workout, but I'm still not on board with legs and back. My legs were a lot stronger today than last week. My ligament still hurts from pullups two days ago, so I opted to use the Total Gym the whole time. I set it on the highest setting and rocked out 20 pullups on everything, though, so still a good way to end the pullups of Phase 2.

Strongest ab ripper! I feel like I say that a lot, but today I did 25 of everything except for 5 bicycles and 1 or 2 on a few others. I did all 50 mason twists though! I figured this was the last time I'd see ap ripper until the final phase, so I had to bring it today and I did!

Excellent Yoga X day! My crane pose is getting a lot better, and I even got up to the wheel today! I couldn't hold it the whole time, but I definitely did it!

The Warrior 3 stuff is still really hard for me, but a little better every time. Overall, though, today's yoga was strong, fluid and kicked my ass!

Making huge strides in Week 7!

Day: 45, P90X Back & Biceps

Today is the halfway point! I haven't noticed too much weight loss, but old pants fit a lot better and my arms look incredible! I feel really great for the halfway point, and can't wait to see where I'm at after another 45 days!

Strong workout, but something in my left arm pulled really hard on the very first pullup. I did all of the rest on the Total Gym; I couldn't even hold my own weight up just hanging today! But the rest of the workout was very strong, and having the additional, heavier weights really made the bicep stuff awesome! I went down in reps a little, but felt major burn at 6-8 reps on most things!

Oh, and my 20lbs weights are actually kettlebells now, and wow! Kettlebells feel so different and they give an amazing burn on this workout! Let's see how much they improve my strength in the coming weeks.

This is the last time I'll see this workout until Week 2 of Phase 3, so I'm glad I got a good workout in today. See you in a few weeks Back and Biceps!

Strong ab workout! My hips hurt like hell in the beginning of this workout, and it forced me to slow down a little, but once I hit the cross leg sit-ups I hit the ground running and didn't look back!

One more ab ripper left in phase 2. Bring it!

Day: 44, P90X Plyometrics

Very strong plyo day. My legs were still dying from Saturday, but my jumps were higher than they've ever been! I got tired way earlier than normal, though, so the second half wasn't 100%. Still a great workout and I'm soaked as usual, so that's a victory.

No plyo next week, so let's see how much I improve with some extra rest time on my legs. See you in two weeks plyo!

Day: 43, P90X Chest, Shoulders & Tris

Yesterday was Cypress Hill's Smokeout, a 14 hour music festival in SoCal. We drove out there on Friday and came home this morning. I was dancing and just on my feet in general for 14 hours, and then we walked a mile back to the hotel. And I didn't eat too well. I didn't eat horrible portion wise, but definitely food wise. That's ok though; the whole show was absolutely incredible! But ya, I'm noting yesterday to let you know why I was wiped today.

My whole body was dead from yesterday, but I managed to get in a good workout today after the drive home. Not as many pushups as I'd have liked, but I definitely made the last three hard. This was also my first resistance routine with my new heavier weights, so a lot of stuff I got fewer reps but they felt way better.

Last time I'll see this routine until mid phase three. Strong ending, considering the concert. Bring it!

Good workout. Again, not as strong as it could have been after the festival, but good overall. The last 40 mason twists destroyed me!

Abs feel like they're on fire! Excellent way to start Week 7!

Oh man, Kenpo X destroyed me today! My legs were still dying from yesterday, and as soon as I got to the kicks today my energy dropped. I still finished strong and threw the punches pretty solid, but last week was way stronger.

Oh well, I'm still completely soaked. Week 6 is done! Bring on Week 7, which includes Day 45 (the halfway point!). Bring it!

I held the crane pose for 9 seconds! Granted, that 9 seconds was broken into 3 blocks of 3 seconds, but holy crap! The crane pose for 1 minute is going to happen someday!

This was my strongest yoga by far. The moving stuff felt great, and I'm much more flexible on the balance poses.

I still struggle with the entire half moon series. It's not a balance thing, or at least I don't think it is. It's a strength in one leg thing, so I guess that means eventually I'll be able to hold it, when I'm stronger.

Yoga is an amazing way to start the day. My day is going to be great!

Plyo kicked my ass today! I was struggling through the whole thing.
I got through it, but last week was WAY stronger.

Last night at the wedding I ate terribly! Don't get me wrong, it was delicious, but that was the most I've eaten in one sitting in a long time! I felt so horrible all night and today that I had to go home sick from work. This diet part is incredibly important! I used to eat like that all the time, but now it just beats me up.

Eating healthier, here I come!

Good workout. I'm always amazed how much stronger I get in a week. I lifted a lot heavier weights than last week, and it felt great! Those damn pike pushups are still ridiculous, and the plyo pushups are no bueno either. On the latter I can at least get in the air, but clapping is out of the question right now. Someday though, it's gonna happen.

Week 6 is starting off strong!

I can now officially do the harder version of every workout in this. Starting off with the in and outs and the bicycles with my arms in the air instead of on the ground was excellent! That kind of murdered me for the rest of the workout, but I still got through the whole thing. A few things I didn't get to 25, but I never quit; I just couldn't move as fast as Tony and the crew. Oh, except those Fifer Scissors. Those are still beating me up a lot more than anything else. Stronger today, but still working on it.

Abs feel good. I feel good. Great way to start the day!

I freakin' love this workout. I didn't even want to work out, and as soon as threw the first set of punches I felt incredible. I've been doing another martial arts workout DVD that I bought, and I feel like my punches are getting way stronger! I feel excellent.

I was a little pressed for time and had to take some exercises out. I'll be honest, I don't like legs and back, and I omitted 3 of the longer leg workouts to save some time. But I did do all of the pullups, and I mean really did them! I did 5 genuine pullups on every exercise. That's 40 pullups in the course of an hour! I couldn't do 1 pullup a month ago! So ya, that part was awesome.

This is an awesome workout, but man it kicked my ass today. I did it during Week 1 when I couldn't find my legs DVD, but I didn't remember it was so tough. Felt great though....I did a ton of pullups! Haven't done any in over a week, so it was really cool seeing that I could still do them. This will be a fun workout for the next three weeks. I can't wait to see how well I progress.

That was an amazing plyo workout! With a few exceptions, everything I did big high ridiculous superman jumps for the entire time! Well, maybe not leap over buildings high....yet. But wow, I feel excellent right now!

Day: 29, P90X Chest, Shoulders & Tris

Yes! This workout is awesome! Chest, Tri's and Shoulders is the final disc I haven't done, so I've now officially done every exercise in P90X at least once. But wow, this workout is great. There's a ton of pushups, and they are all ridiculous. Those twitch pushups and the Pike Pushups are nuts!

I'm so glad I got to lift again. I really lost some drive last week, but I'm really not that into cardio as much as I am lifting. Last week has too much cardio. At least I know that as soon as I get done with recovery week I'll get really into it again.

Month 2 began today and I feel great! Bring it!

Getting even stronger at ab ripper. 4 weeks ago this thing destroyed me. Today I was actually looking forward to it. It's been a week since I last did this workout so I'm really thrilled that I got stronger at it! All of that is freakin' awesome!

Recovery Week is wrapping up today! Rest day tomorrow (even though there may be cardio).

Oh, cool news: I saw the grandparents at dinner last night, and the first thing Grandma said when I got to the restaurant was that I looked so thin. I don't see it, but hearing her say that was huge! And I'm not even on Day 30. I cannot wait to see what happens on Day 90! Bring it!

Good yoga day. I was slacking towards the end of the moving section, but I also had to get up about an hour earlier than normal for this workout, so I'm chalking it up to that.
