Day: 86, P90X Core Synergistics

WorkoutP90X Core Synergistics
Status: Completed
The final week is going strong. I woke up at 5:15 to do some homework, and didn't get to work out this morning. After work I was completely drained, but pushed play and had a damn good workout. I always forget how crazy core synergistics is, and it always works me great. I pushed as hard as I could, used heavier weights, got a lot of pushups in and just felt great all over. I love how much I sweat during plank chattaranga iso. Very cool.

I think I'm ready to start Insanity. Just a few more days. Bring it!

Day: 85, P90X Yoga: MC2

WorkoutP90X Yoga: MC2
Status: Completed
The final week of round 2 has begun, and I got to do yoga: mc2 on a weekend! Being able to sleep in, do yoga and not have to be anywhere after is amazing. I had a great workout, stretched and felt great. It's an excellent way to start my final week of P90X. Namaste.

WorkoutMartial Arts
Status: Completed
I added an in hour of Machida-Do karate. This is Lyoto Machida's MMA home study course and I thought it would be fun to add in every once in a while. Not the hardest thing, but I did break a sweat. I added in two rounds of Bas Rutten at the end though, and that destroyed me.

Great workout today.

Day: 82, P90X Base & Back

WorkoutP90X Base & Back
Status: Completed
The final Base & Back workout is completed and it went fantastically! The pullups were very strong, and in total I did more than 150! The leg stuff was a little rough today after yesterday's yoga, but I still broke a great sweat and jumped very well. I'm very glad I used this DVD instead of Legs & Back this round. It's a killer workout!

Adios Base & Back! Thanks for the muscles!

WorkoutP90X Ab Ripper
Status: Completed
The final ab ripper is complete! I realized right as it started that this was the last one, and decided to really bring it! I got to 25 reps on almost everything (those damn bicycles always kill me) and was exhausted when it was all over. And I completed my goal for this round, as I did all 50 mason twists again today. That means I did 50 mason twists on every single ab ripper in round 2! That's 1,500 mason twists! When I started this thing I couldn't do 10 in a row! It's amazing the progress I can make in 6 months!

I don't know if Kenpo is going to happen tomorrow. I'm getting up early to go snowboarding with my buddy Ryan, and that should suffice for my daily workout. If I feel up for it I'll make the workout up on Saturday, but there's a very real chance I won't be able to walk that day so I'm not too concerned with that. So on that note, Week 12 is wrapping up very nicely. One recovery week after that and it's on to Insanity. I'm ready! Bring it!

Day: 81, P90X Yoga: MC2

WorkoutP90X Yoga: MC2
Status: Completed
Yoga: MC2 was done this morning. Phone was dying after the workout and never got a chance to update the blog since it was charging all day. Good yoga session. Not great, but good. Week 12's still going strong so I'm good with that. Namaste.

Day: 80, P90X Back & Biceps

WorkoutP90X Back & Biceps
Status: Completed
I woke up about 45 minutes earlier than normal so I could get some homework done before work, but wanted to get the workout done first. Being so early I was convinced today was going to be a rough workout, and boy was I wrong! I got a huge burst of energy at the very beginning and I honestly think this was my best Back & Biceps ever! All of my lifts were strong and my pullups felt very solid. The energy stuck with me the whole workout, and even my strip sets at the very end were dripping with quality!

This may be the last time I do this workout, at least for a very long time. Today is the last true resistance day in Round 2. I might do this starting Week 6 of Insanity, but I'm debating swapping it for the new V Sculpt from the One on One series. Still debating. Glad I got a great workout on my potentially last back and bi's workout though!

WorkoutP90X Ab Ripper
Status: Completed
The energy carried over from back and bi's, and this turned into one of my best ab rippers. I felt great the whole time and got a ton of great reps in. Very cool! And as always, all 50 mason twists. I only have one more ab ripper to go in Round 2. Only 50 more mason twists to go! Week 12 is still going strong. Bring it!

Day: 79, P90X Plyocide

WorkoutP90X Plyocide
Status: Completed
After not wanting to get out of bed for a good ten minutes, I dragged myself to the dojo and hit play on plyocide. I got a pretty good burst of energy and crushed this workout. Lots of good jumps, and I've gotta say that adding in the weights (and the weight vest of course) takes plyo to a whole new level. Plyocide is a pretty great workout. I'm glad Tony and Mason put it together.

Week 12 continues. Bring it!

Day: 78, P90X Chest, Shoulders & Tris

WorkoutP90X Chest, Shoulders & Tris
Status: Completed
Week 12 is off to a solid start! Chest, Shoulders & Tri's was
a great way to start the week, and I really brought it today. I upped my reps on most of the pushups, except the last two...by that point I could barely lift my body up! My shoulder stuff was strong, and I used the 30 lbs weights for the Y Presses! That's huge! Tricep work was great too. I'm starting to figure out how to use the Tower 200 for some of these exercises and for triceps I really love it!

The next time I see this workout (according to my upcoming modified schedule) I'll be on Week 6 of Insanity! Not for a while, but I know it's going to fly by. I wonder what my body will look like when I'm there! Can't wait!

WorkoutP90X Ab Ripper
Status: Completed
I was a little tired after the great resistance workout, but got a second wind pretty quick during ab ripper. Stronger bicycles than normal today, and the lying down on the back section was a lot better today. As always, I got all 50 mason twists in! Only two more times and I've officially accomplished that goal!

Welcome to Week 12! So far so GREAT! Bring it!

Day: 76, P90X Kenpo X

Log EntryDaily Note:
Today is my girlfriend Heather's birthday, so just making a quick shoutout to her. Happy Birthday Babe! 25.....you're a quarter of the way there.

Sigh....I used to be 25.....like four days ago. Not a fan of getting old.

WorkoutP90X Kenpo X
Status: Completed
I got to wrap up the week strong! I started the morning feeling as crappy as I've felt all week, plus my stomach hurt (decided I needed a Matt night which included a lot of food). I was dragging ass through the stretches, and then out of nowhere Pandora pulled up some Rise Against. I'm not am extreme Rise Against fan, but they are pretty awesome, and when they start playing right as you start throwing punches, it definitely fires me up. Nothing was 100% power, but I definitely had a great kenpo workout.

Week 11 is done. Let's root for a solid week 12! Bring it!

Day: 75, P90X Base & Back

Log EntryDaily Note:
For the record, I woke up early and did 30 minutes of yoga. Today was a weird morning and I couldn't get my head in it and said screw it. This workout did not deserve a full blog post, so here it is.

WorkoutP90X Base & Back
Status: Completed
Holy crap, this week has zapped my energy! I decided going into base and back that I was drained and could only do half, and that was definitely a good call. I brought it really well, but by that halfway point I could barely walk.

For what it was it was a good workout, but I am looking forward to relaxing this weekend and getting my old self back in the game next week.

WorkoutP90X Ab Ripper
Status: Completed
Despite the base and back workout, I forced myself to have a great ab ripper and it turned out alright. Not the best, but very very decent. Really started to feel it during the mason twists and even thought about a break, but after ten weeks of 50 mason twists, I decided to push through. Collapsed at 50, and that's all she wrote. Victory. Yada yada yada. Bring it!

Day: 75, P90X Yoga: MC2

Well, today is not starting out with the best mindset. I made it 30 minutes into a very lackluster performance of yoga mc2 and decided that I was just not in the mindset for yoga today. It's all about clearing your head, and for some reason clearing my head was not an option this morning. Too much stuff going on I guess. I decided to let yoga slide for this week and got some homework done. Going to go into work early and get some things out, and hopefully I can clear my head for tonight's Base & Back workout. Wish me luck!

Day: 74, P90X Shoulders & Arms: MC2

WorkoutP90X Shoulders & Arms: MC2
Status: Completed
Keeping with my modified schedule for the week, today was Shoulders & Arms: MC2 and I absolutely crushed this workout. I really like the format of the whole thing, and the exercises are really brutal on the arms. I love it! The only problem I have, like most of the one on ones, is that after you get used to the workout you realize there's a lot of breaks. I actually tried to mix that up a little today by adding in a new forearm exercise, but overall the breaks are too long. I'm pretty sure when I start Insanity I'm going to use the original shoulders and arms workout, so this is probably my last time doing this specific workout. It's a killer, and I'm glad I threw it in the mix for round 2!

WorkoutP90X Ab Ripper
Status: Completed
I think I worked too hard in the arms workout, or maybe my stomach was still rough from being sick yesterday. Either way, this was an exhausting ab ripper. I felt like I had to talk myself into just doing the exercises, let alone doing them well. I still did alright,
50 crappy mason twists (seriously not my best, but they were all there) and I was definitely sweating at the end.

Week 11 is still moving forward, with a few interesting bumps in the road. Round 2 is wrapping up nicely. Bring it!

Day: 73, P90X Rest

WorkoutP90X Rest
Status: Completed
Today is my 26th birthday and I woke up with a cold. Had to call in sick, but at least I got to relax at home all day. Long story short though, working out did not happen today and I'm completely comfortable with it. Tomorrow I'm going to make up Shoulder & Arms and Ab Ripper, yoga on Thursday morning and base and back Thursday night so I can catch up. It's a good plan. Anyways, just wanted to document my birthday. Happy birthday Matt. Bring it!

Day: 72, P90X Plyometrics

Log EntryDaily Note:
Today is Valentine's Day, so I'm just giving a shout of Happy Valentine's Day to my lovely girlfriend Heather! Hope you have an amazing day babe!

WorkoutP90X Plyometrics
Status: Completed
I was dragging ass all day today and I think I'm getting sick again, but as soon as plyometrics started, I really brought it and felt great! I was soaked my the end and got some great jumps in. Rockstar hops still kick my ass though. I think it helped that this is probably the last time I'll do this disc for a long while, if ever. Next week is technically my last plyo workout, but it's a plyocide day according to my modified schedule. After that it's Insanity, and after that Rushfit, so no plyo in there. But I sure have come a long way on this workout, from barely a few jumps to rocking the whole thing with the weight best on (I still use the weight vest!)! I hear there's a pretty challenging plyo workout in Insanity. Maybe I'll do that with the weight vest on.....someday far from now.

Bring it!

Day: 70, P90X Chest and Back

WorkoutP90X Chest and Back
Status: Completed
Today is supposed to be a rest day, but we're going hiking tomorrow and I didn't want to risk missing my final chest and back of round 2, so I did it today. Turned into an awesome workout too. All of my numbers went up, my pushups felt super quality and the pullups felt great too.

Excellent workout, and I'm really glad I'm taking this one into Insanity with me. I want to get big and muscley, and this workout will definitely do it. Chest and Back for the win!

WorkoutP90X Ab Ripper
Status: Completed
Since I moved Chest and Back to today I had to bring ab ripper with me. It's Saturday, and I eat poorly on Saturday's. Today was not a healthy breakfast, and I felt it in my stomach during ab ripper! But aside from that, I got a pretty decent ab ripper in, with 50 mason twists at the end. Only 5 more ab tippers to go in Round 2!

Week 11 is off to a solid start, and I'm excited to go hiking tomorrow. Bring it!

Day: 69, P90X Kenpo X

WorkoutP90X Kenpo X
Status: Completed
Excellent kenpo workout. Somehow the punching bag really adds another dimension to this workout, and I was soaked when it was all over. Also to mix things up I switched all of the backkicks with roundhouse kicks. It really added something, and let me do more kicks on the bag.

Week 10 is wrapping up. Almost time for Insanity! Bring it!

WorkoutMartial Arts
Status: Completed
Just to document it, yesterday I threw in an extra cardio workout from the GSP Rushfit DVDs. It was the all around fight conditioning workout, and this thing destroyed me. I think the rushfit series is going to be a great thing to follow up Insanity! But ya, good workout last night and I felt like I made up for the so so workout yesterday morning.

Thursday, February 10, 2011

Day: 68, P90X Base & Back

WorkoutP90X Base & Back
Status: Completed
Not a great Base and Back workout. I haven't been sleeping too well this week, and was exhausted when I woke up this morning. Also I don't know if it's from yoga yesterday or what, but my legs are on fire this morning. That all lead to a really rough Base and Back workout. I could barely push myself to do the leg stuff. The pullups weren't bad, but the lack of jumps in my base workout is making me want to do a second workout tonight. We'll see.

Bad workouts happen, so I'm not beating myself up too much. Overall it's still been a good week, so it's still a victory.

WorkoutP90X Ab Ripper
Status: Completed
The lackluster performance continued into ab ripper, but I did manage to squeeze out most of the reps. Intensity was the main thing lacking, and even with all of the reps (including 50 mason twists) I felt like I was just going through the motions.

Oh well. Gonna debate a cardio workout for tonight. Bring it!

Wednesday, February 9, 2011

Day: 67, P90X Yoga: MC2

WorkoutP90X Yoga: MC2
Status: Completed
I have mixed feelings about today's yoga: mc2 workout. The first 40 minutes I was incredibly focused, didn't take any breaks and really felt amazing the whole time. Somewhere through the third series though my energy completely dropped and I could barely hold any of the poses. The last 30 minutes or so were just me barely going through the motions. Night and day comparing the first half and second half. I guess I tired myself out by bringing it so well in the beginning, so that's a good thing. Like I said, mixed feelings. On a side note, my body was TIGHT today! Everything took me one or two breaths to get to my normal point, and every single
body part popped! Like every. Hips, knees, chest, elbows, thumbs, three places in my upper back....the list goes on. Crazy!

I still feel great now despite the lackluster finish. Yoga is an amazing way to start my Wednesdays. Namaste.

Day: 66, P90X Back & Biceps

Log EntryDaily Note:
Quick note, I didn't do a second plyo last night because Mark was doing Chest and Back. I decided to warm up and stretch with that DVD, then hit the bag for 20 minutes, and closed out with a modified plyo workout. The plyo section was jack in the box knee tucks, squat switch jumps, airborne heismans, layups using the medicine ball, and repeat that whole thing one more time. Turned into a good cardio workout that I wanted to document.

WorkoutP90X Back & Biceps
Status: Completed
Wow I am tired this morning! I felt like a zombie going through the motions, and even now that it's over I'm still a little fuzzy on remembering the whole workout. I do know that I increased most of my pullup numbers on the total gym, and my biceps definitely feel like they got a workout.

Quick side note, when I start Insanity in a few weeks I think I'm taking the days 1 and 3 resistance workouts from P90X with me. I like lifting, and really think it will help with my results from Insanity. I'll keep you posted on what I decide.

WorkoutP90X Ab Ripper
Status: Completed
Good ab ripper today. The first half felt a little rough for some reason, but after the cross leg situps I got a little burst of energy and brought it. Broke a great sweat, my abs feel (the good kind of) sore and I once again did all 50 mason twists!

Only 7 more ab tippers to go, and only 350 mason twists left! Week 10 is moving along well. Bring it!

Monday, February 7, 2011

Day: 65, P90X Plyocide

WorkoutP90X Plyocide
Status: Completed
Today's return to Plyocide was so so. I'm moving slow this morning with the superbowl food still sitting in my stomach. It wasn't terrible, but with the big breaks that Tony has in this I had trouble keeping myself motivated. I still did some pretty good jumps, and I wore the weight vest as usual, so there were definitely some benefits to today's workout, and I was pretty sweaty at the end.

Mark's supposed to do Plyo X tonight, so I might try to do that workout with him tonight. I could definitely use the extra cardio as I wrap up this round. Bring it!

Day: 64, P90X Chest, Shoulders & Tris

Day: 62, P90X Kenpo X

WorkoutP90X Kenpo X
Status: Completed
Meh, today's workout was not too hot. This whole week has been way more hectic than I prefer, and I think it's finally starting to catch up with me. I was a zombie when I woke up, and I really just felt like I was going through the motions during kenpo. I broke a sweat, but nothing like a normal kenpo workout. I also did this one in the living room instead of the garage because it's way too cold in there this morning. Unfortunately this meant no punching bag, which usually helps me get some extra calories burned.

Not a terrible workout though, just not my normal gig. I'm going to rest a lot this weekend, watch Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort duke it out (this fight card is freaking sick. I have no clue who's going to win bader v jones or griffin v franklin!!), hang with friends and watch the superbowl on Sunday. And lots of sleep. I need sleep.

Adios Week 9! Bring it!

Day: 61, P90X Cardio X

WorkoutP90X Cardio X
Status: Completed
Today was another weird schedule day. Got up way early to do homework because I fell asleep last night when I was supposed to do it. Homework still took longer than I had planned, and I never had time to do Base and Back this morning. When I came home Mark was just starting his workout. I didn't want to wait until after him, so I decided to do Cardio X with him today. I figured the cardio would take care of the legs stuff, which it did, and when that was over I did a set of each of the pullups from base and back. I realize in a normal Thursday workout I'd have done twice as many pullups since you do them all twice, but I did them right after each other tonight and didn't have the energy to do more.

Not the right workout but still a great one. I always forget how awesome cardio x is.

WorkoutP90X Ab Ripper
Status: Completed
Cardio X destroyed me, and this was a tough ab ripper to get through. I brought and rocked out all 50 mason twists, but I am definitely feeling it. That's all I have to say.

Bring it!

Day: 60, P90X Yoga: MC2

WorkoutP90X Yoga: MC2
Status: Completed
Great yoga day! I had a lot of energy about five minutes in, and that carried me through the whole routine. I love Yoga: MC2. The routine is enjoyable and creative, and there's a lot of really tricky new stuff that I love. The vinyasas on one leg section in the middle always kills me though, and today was no exception. Oh, and my half moon is finally starting to happen! Twisting too! I can hold each of them for 3 or 4 seconds consistently, and sometimes even longer. Very cool.

Yoga is a beautiful way to start the day. Namaste.

Day: 59, P90X Shoulders & Arms: MC2

WorkoutP90X Shoulders & Arms: MC2
Status: Completed
I love shoulders and arms mc2! This is an excellent workout, and I haven't done it in weeks. The routine is awesome, and I love how much shoulder work is in it. My arms feel great right now, and I can't wait to do this again in two weeks.

WorkoutP90X Ab Ripper
Status: Completed
Today was a really weird schedule day, and long story short I actually had to do ab ripper before shoulders and arms mc2, and I had to do all of it at night. None of that is like my normal workout. Doing ab ripper first is weird, and even though I had more strength throughout I don't feel like I got as good of a workout. I got through it though, with 50 mason twists in the bag as always.

Day 60 tomorrow. Round 2 is definitely going quick. Only 30 days until I start Insanity. Bring it!
